Kayden Gerard

This past week, I got to spend some time with the sweetest little baby boy named Kayden and his awesome parents, Dan and Alison. I had such a fantastic time photographing in their home because of the amazing natural light that streamed in and made everything that much dreamier. Kayden already has big ideas on how he likes his days to look like and will let you know when he's not feelin' it. :)

Being around this spirited, sweet little boy blessed my soul in ways I couldn't explain. There is so going on in the world today that weighs heavily on all of our hearts, but holding a fresh life that breathes so steadily, so confidently, somehow makes everything seem okay. I was extremely grateful to meet this family and I'm excited to show you our afternoon together.

Clothed in Strength

I had the unique opportunity to photograph my friend Kimberly's fitness clothing brand Clothed in Strength this past weekend. I love the message of her clothing and the emphasis on being feminine, yet strong. I know many, many women who are tough and have more grit than anyone I know - and most would say that the reason they can be strong is because they draw their strength from God. I love that Kimberly wants to put a positive message out there in the fitness world and that she actually put feet to her dream and did it, and is doing it well. I can't wait to see what new products she comes out with next! If you'd like to follow along, give Clothed in Strength's Instagram a follow here.

I loved hanging out with these girls at our shoot. I would love to give an extra thanks to Gaby Zegans, our make up artist, who came out and made these girls look even more radiant than they already are!

Liam Turns One!

A week ago, I got a chance to get to know a little guy named Liam on a beautiful sunny day in the park. He's a smart, funny, charming boy that's full of spirit and spunk. :) He ADORES Mickey Mouse and his favorite book right now is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Liam is going to be a big deal one day with the support of his amazing, super smart parents -- Alyssa (a teacher) and Mohamed (an engineer). I loved watching their family operate and I'm grateful for our time together. I'm so excited to share this family!

A quick little note: Alyssa put together a collection of items to give his photos lots of pop and personality. Can I just call attention to the fact that Alyssa did Liam's sign all by her own hand! THAT is amazing. I was floored!

Curtis Family

I love when families make it a point to commemorate as many milestones as possible in a baby's life. Little Brody recently turned 8 months old in the beginning of March. With the 8 month mark comes a lot of milestones! He's pulling himself up, he's teething like a champ, and he charms the pants off anyone who walks by him. Are his eyes not THE MOST beautiful thing you've ever seen?!

I adore spending time with families on photo sessions and I LOVE watching sibling relationships the most. The way Shayne and Ryley love on their little brother makes my heart grow three times over. They're so doting on that manly baby! To watch these girlies be my BEST assistants to make their brother smile -- all the while singing and dancing and collecting little leaves and treasures for me -- was such a wonderful afternoon spent on my part.

I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I loved taking them!

Being Together

Is there anything better than pulling off a huge surprise for your mother? So good that you make her cry huge, happy tears? I think not.

These girls below are spread all over and rarely get to see each other face-to-face all at the same time. This Christmas, they all secretly planned to be home to celebrate Christmas with their mother together, as a bunch, as a sisterhood. To top it off, they decided to make some family portraits happen on Christmas Day.

I had so much fun with these girls. Their love for each other and their mother shines bright.

The Ringdahl Family

I was able to spend some time with the Ringdahl family a few weeks ago, and let me say this: I can't WAIT to have a 5 year old. Little Maya has SUCH a bright and beautiful spirit. She was my dedicated helper throughout the session, and she is the most hilarious little girl. Her giggles throughout the shoot brought me so much joy.

I loved the way Lindsay coordinated their outfits and brought special details that made each girl's personality pop. I had the best time watching these three little women run circles around their main man, Noah, and him loving every minute of it. Most of all, I had the beautiful blessing of watching these two sisters love on each other. We were even able to commemorate little Maci's first birthday with a beautiful arangement of balloons and a little smash cake! I had so much fun with this little family, and I can't wait to share these with you!

Class of 2014: Gabriella

Gaby and I have known each other for nearly five years. Ever since we have met, Gaby has been going full throttle at her teaching career. All the while, she has made a profound impact on many people by volunteering and pouring her time into children around her. Gaby is one of the most focused, selfless women I know. Not only do many young women look up to her, but many people of all ages respect and love her to the highest degree.

This May, many of us in her corner have had the opportunity to cheer her on as she accepts her teaching degree. If I were a parent at the school she will be teaching at, I would fight tooth and nail to have my daughter learn under this wonderful woman. Can you tell how proud I am? :)

I love you, Gaby - and words can't express how thrilled I am for this next chapter in your story!

Class of 2014: Elisabeth

When Elisabeth and I first met at the Exist in Photographs event, we quickly learned in the brief amount of time together that we have a LOT in common. She's a runner (and runs multiple half marathons a year), is a theater geek (and starred in Oklahoma!), and she loves ALL my favorite shows (The Office! Friends! Seinfeld!). She brought her beautiful mother Dede to the EIP event and we had a blast getting to know each other in January. It was a wonderful treat to get to spend time with her doing her photographs to celebrate her high school graduation. :)

Elisabeth, you are such a beautiful soul. And I absolutely can't wait to see what the future holds for you at Furman University in the fall.

Note to self: I need to join a water polo team so I can get arms like these. ;)

Liz

I love when my clients have a specific vision for their session. Me and Liz met up at sunrise, she pitched me her vision, and we knocked it out! It was such an easy breezy session. Liz is an experienced model and has done many sessions with photographers (can't you tell?). All I did was chase the light with her :) We eventually ended up at C&I Studios in FAT Village in Fort Lauderdale.

She's hilarious, fun to be around, and such a caring person. I really enjoyed out time together :)

The Westfall Family

I have loved Mary Kate and Ashley probably my whole life. It doesn't matter how old I get, I still can't get enough of them! I probably saw every movie and Full House episode. I even dreamed of being a twin my whole life! The closest thing I have is when people often mistake me and my sister Kelsey as twins - which I love. Haha!

I had the opportunity to photograph two adorable 13 year old girlies named Emily and Katie recently and I have to admit, I totally had a huge Mary Kate and Ashley gush moment. I was so excited when their mother, Ginger, requested a family shoot with the focus being on these two! We had a blast. These girls are hilarious! I loved their banter and how they tried their absolute hardest to irritate one another. Deep down, they're some serious sister love going on (whether they refuse to acknowledge it yet or not). And Ginger and Michael just stole my heart. They're just about the sweetest couple who are obviously totally in love with their girls. This photoshoot made me eagerly look forward to how my daughter, Rowan, will be at this age. I can't wait!

Baptism: Christian Noah

Last week, I had the chance to photograph a beautiful Catholic baptism for one of my littlest clients, Christian. I have never been to one before and it was such a beautiful experience. I loved the beautiful, vibrant colors of St. Bernadette's church, listening to the comfort of the prayers spoken, and experiencing the joy of the family and close friends as they came together to celebrate a very pivotal moment in little Christian's life. It was a lovely, lovely time.

I am a broken record, I know - but when clients ask me to return again and again for the little exciting events their lives, it makes my heart burst. I get a front seat to little faces growing up, lovers taking the next step in their lives, and new milestones taking place.

Monika and Wayne, thank you over and over for allowing me to be involved on this special day. I love you and your two little boys to the highest degree.

Expecting: Mario + Cherise

On a beautiful Thursday afternoon, I met with Mario and Cherise to collaborate on their portrait session before their sweet little girly (!!) comes in July. Not only were Mario and Cherise up for whatever I asked them to do, but they surprised my by bringing all of Alaina's pre-bought Florida Gators gear. She's ready for football season already! :)  We had a wonderfully relaxed time at the park and at the beach, ending it as the sunset faded to the west.

I am so, so, so, so, so lucky to have the clients I do. I had such a great time with you, Mario and Cherise. I can't WAIT to kiss little Alaina's cheeks when she comes!

Emelia Surrah Sung

It feels like I've been waiting forever to meet Emelia. When the day came that I got to meet this sweet little one, I sped down to Miami Beach and almost arrived too early -- something I have never been known for in my life. The truth is this, though... There's nothing sweeter than holding a sweet, tiny, baby girlie in your arms.

Emelia Surrah is a petite little beauty with a fiery side -- even at one month old! We had the most wonderful time that bright and beautiful morning snuggling and playing dress-up with her cute little tutu and headbands. So much sweetness.

As I contemplated the shoot afterwards on my drive home, I felt the overwhelming blessing of what this little beauty has in store for her life. She has patient, loving parents who are ready to give her the universe at a moment's notice, a warm and safe home, and the gumption built inside her to make a change in her world.

Emelia, you are pure joy. And I can't wait to see what you do with your life.

James Frederick Auld III

Last Friday, I had the opportunity of spending the morning with this wonderful little family. I met up with JimBo and Noel a few months ago to do some maternity photos for them, and now their little handsome prince has FINALLY arrived! Sweet, little James is every bit as charming as he looks. His twinkly blue eyes are totally captivating and my heart soared when he started talking and gurgling to me (squeal!).

When I have to chance to photograph new life, I grab it. There's nothing better than spending a relaxed morning with a brand new family in their home. Especially in a room as COOL as James' is!

JimBo and Noel, thank you for letting me peek in on your life periodically and capture the fun and sweetness that is your family.

The Herwig Family

The Herwig family and I met up last week on an absolutely beautiful fall afternoon to get some fun family photos for the year. Aaron, Emily, Holly, Heidi, and Brady are definitely a group that is on the hustle from one activity (sports, church, volunteering) to another, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I really appreciate that they budgeted time during the busiest season of the year to freeze this year's version of their family. I love them even more for letting me have the privilige of doing it for them. It's sessions like this that remind why I love what I do so much!

Ryan McInerney: TechShepherd

There are times I'm contacted to do things that I've never attempted. Photos of a CEO/President of a company is something I was asked to consider recently that I decided to tackle. When I did my research in preparation for this project, at least in my opinion, corporate photos usually scream out one thing: B O R I N G.

I asked myself this one question: How can I put a personal twist on it so it's not stuffy, sterile, and boring?!

... I turned to fashion and branding. As a hobby, I love leafing through JCrew and H&M catalogs and paying attention to high fashion brands (Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger) to see how their male models are positioned and what they're doing. Corporate + fashion? Could that work? ... and that was the twist.

To start, I collaborated with Ryan heavily on wardrobe because clothes speak. In Men's fashion, fit and details are king. In addition, we had a discussion on his desired market and what he wanted his clothes (and ultimately, his photos) to say to his potential clientele. He also very emphatic on wanting a HUGE Boca Raton relaxed flare.

I think we did a good job.

Ryan's Company is TechShepherd. Check them out here!

Hope you all are well...

Victoria Grace Benedict

Dear beautiful Victoria ~

You're finally here after so much anticipation. Do you know how much you're adored already by many? Your sweet face is pure sunshine. You bring so much joy into the world at just a tender four weeks old. The way my heart swelled when I held your tiny body in my hands made my heart swirl with a peace that only fresh little babies can bring.

What a privilege it was to spend time with one of my amazing friends, Linda, and her little princess for an afternoon. I think the best part of these photos for me, is knowing that these two special ladies have each other... for life. That is bliss.

Steven + Naomi: Expecting

Steven and Naomi are no strangers to challenges. For most of their dating life, they were miles and miles apart. Across the country, across California, you name it. Once these two finally got married, they packed up their things and moved to Miami from California to allow Steven to pursue the residency program for Podiatry that he is in now.

After a few years of being together at last, they are now expecting a little girly!! Oh, how I just adore little girls. All the shopping on Etsy for hair bands, all the sparkle and pink... I love it all. One thing that I can't get enough of from my clients is that they tend to be planners and organizers... and Naomi is just that. Once we had a date confirmed, she booked her hair appointment at Blo in Coral Gables, decided on Vizcaya for the photos, and got to shopping for her outfits. She is a little stylista and I can't wait to see how that is passed down to her baby girly when she arrives!

Naomi and Steven, you two will be rockstar parents. And I can't WAIT to meet your little princess!

I think the most endearing thing about this couple is how they can just let loose and make each other LAUGH.

Robert + Gabriela: Engaged

It was on a signature South Florida evening with a giant blue sky and a steady breeze where I finally met Gabriela and Robert. We had been emailing about this day back and forth for quite some time, and I was excited to finally put faces to the people I had corresponded with for so long. The scent of salt water from the marina and seafood from Monty's laced the air as I waited patiently. As they jumped out of the car, quickly embraced me, and started sharing their vision for our time together, I knew I had a very special couple to photograph.

In any life event, family and friends are absolutely vital. There are so many intricate details to a wedding and a lot of support that is required of the bride and groom's family. As Gabriela and Robert stepped out of the car, Gabriela's parents, Robert's mother, AND - wait for it - Gabriela's entire bridal party also joined us! All were there to show their support and cheer them on as they got their photos taken. They held outfits, props, and even fed me strawberries in between shots (I kid you not - this was the best day of my life). I have also decided that I need a strawberry carrier for my photo shoots from now on. ;)

Gabriela and Robert have a story much like my own. They met when they were very young. When Robert finally mustered up the courage to ask Gabi out, she was thrilled! Not only were they together, but they became the best of friends. Gabi was quickly taken with his subtle nature, and he adored her free, artistic spirit and beautiful smile she flashed at him when she was over-the-moon happy. All the way down to inside jokes and sweet nicknames, they have it all. Gabi's mom put it so well -- she whispered to me as I was shooting with a tear in her eye, "They are the best of friends... and now they are the best of lovers. Gabi and Robert are so special."

By the end of the shoot, I felt loved like a family member. This wedding is going to be fun, crazy, and LOUD - just the way weddings should be.

Gabriela and Robert, you two are so very special and I wish you all the best of luck in your beautiful future together!

Although it was practically dark, I wanted to take a photo of the fun and crazy caravan we had that night!
