Baltimore Wedding: Steven + Charity

At the end of August, I had the special treat of attending a wedding in Baltimore, MD for my friend Charity that I have known since I was TWO MONTHS OLD. This basically means there hasn't been a minute in my finite remembrance where she hasn't been in my life. (Does that blow your mind? It just blew mine.)

Oh, internet. There are so. many. stories.

We were the losers in 5th grade. We did gymnastics together. We played pranks on kids together at youth group. Got in trouble. Took our church sanctuary captive and sang loudly and danced to songs AND performed them... in public. We also took a road trip together from Maryland to Niagara Falls and back -- and our chaperones (her gracious Aunt Patty and Uncle Dana) -- didn't kill us. How we made it out of high school alive still baffles me.

Now, I was able to witness one of the most important days in her life and meet her other half: Steven. These two are perfect for each other. Not only do they balance each other out, but they make each other the best version of each other when they're together. They do great and purposeful things as a team.  That? That's love.

This weekend trip blessed my heart. I got to see lots of familiar faces and catch up with some people I'll continue to know for my lifetime.

Steven and Charity, I love you two. Together. Can't wait to see what's in store for your relationship... and to see where God takes you next! (hold on!)

Charity and Steve's little family... Jordan and Shaquille (both 16 years old) were added to their family a couple years ago, and they're an integral part of their everyday life. These boys are blessed to have this couple rooting them on.

And last but not least... my favorite candid photos from the reception :)

A note: For those of you who are saying, "Hey! Wait! She doesn't shoot weddings!" Well... you're right. I'm currently not accepting weddings at this time because of the busyness of my current stage of life. I did, however, bring my camera up with me and was able to capture some portraits for them off the cuff. Hope you enjoyed them :)  ox, e

Hitched: Yessenia + Josh

You may remember back when I did Yesi + Josh's engagement session earlier in 2011... but these two have FINALLY tied the knot! Woohoo! I was so thrilled to be able to document their sweet wedding day.

Most people associate weddings with lots of stress and unwanted anxiety. And yes, there is some of that. However, the feeling of love, family, anticipation, adventure, and accomplishment overlaps all those feelings leading up to the big day. Yesi was a gorgeous, and I mean stunningly gorgeous bride. Watching her eyes light up and smile beam at the sight of her beloved is just confirmation that love - true, abiding, enduring, forever love - does exist.

Go on ahead with your bad self, Yesi. Ow ow!

This photo proves that girls just need each other. And it's hard to explain why to people who don't get it.

So, after portraits were done, we partied.

all.

night.

LONG.

I was so honored to be a part of this day. Josh and Yesi, I wish you the best.

{I would also like to give a huge shoutout to Laura W. for being my companion/assistant/second shooter - some of her photos are mixed in above :). Couldn't have done with without you, girl <3}

married: Justin + Javiera

Justin and Pepa (his nickname for her) met a long time ago. In youth group. She was 16, he was in his 20's. A little out of Pepa's reach at the time. She though he was cute... but never though that much of it. It wasn't until a few years down that road when Justin's sister Casey, her boyfriend Jeff, Pepa, and Justin started hanging out all the time that Pepa slowly started catching Justin's eye. The rest is history...

On the morning of the wedding day, I went to meet Pepa and her girls at Drew James salon. Before meeting them, I checked the news for the weather... and I saw the most horrific thing on the news. You see, Pepa is originally from Chile, where she grew up. She came over to the USA in her teens, but her family remained. Early that morning, the morning she was going to get married, an 8.8 earthquake pounded and shook Chile and its citizens. In the exact town where her family resides. Needless to say, the morning was an emotional rollercoaster as she heard back bit by bit from her family down there. Eventually, she got that everyone was fine... and the wedding day continued with smiles, laughter, and relief.

Justin and Pepa were surrounded by their closest friends and family on their day... and that's all a couple can really ask for. In an intimate setting, their sweet family and friends cheered Justin and Pepa on as they became one.

Thank you so much for choosing me to shoot your wedding. My first official wedding. Your flexibility and confidence in me was so encouraging. You two rock my world!

The beading on Pepa's dress was to die for!

Getting ready with these girls was too funny. I loved all the hustle and bustle :)

Pepa's aunt is like her mother in the US. Her real mother is still in Chile. These two are very close.

At the ceremony, her brother walked her down the aisle :)

THIS is where it gets good. The ceremony ended right at the time where the sun was just about to set... and I snuck Justin and Pepa outside, across the street from the church where there were white fences, trees, and a beautiful field.

Can I just say that I love when my clients have some G in them. Break it down!!

p.s. I'm a butt grabber. So I totally appreciate the picture on the right.

Did I mention Justin was 6 feet tall... and Pepa is 4'11?

The bottom picture is my 2nd favorite. Eventually, they became so unaware of me while I was shooting because it was the first time they were alone... and MARRIED at the same time. I love this capture.

And now for my FAVE...

BAM.

I hope you all enjoyed this. I'm trying to put together a gallery of all my favorite images I've taken, but it's so hard!! I need feedback please :)

Hope this finds you all well.

P.S. - For all the photographer friends I have... you may have noticed but I'm telling you anyway. Invest in BlogStomp. Best $29 I ever spent. It compresses your photos to web-size, adds your logo, and frames the picture all in one action. It's MAGICAL and saves so much time on workflow! Just do it and spend the money! :)

Together: Wanda & Nathanael

I love weddings. Especially weddings that involve my family because they are all such a joy to be around – not to mention they're HILARIOUS.  I got the pleasure to shoot my cousin Wanda and Nathanael’s wedding last month in Ocala, Florida. It was a beautiful time… and it was wonderful to see family I hadn’t seen in a long time!

Wanda did her own makeup, which I consider an incredible feat. She did a great job!

Wanda was able to get ready on the property, which was GREAT considering we were in a beautiful room with antique-y accents (my favorite!). I love the thread & needle.

Wanda and my uncle Mike (her father) are really close... I love how filmy & grainy these are. Perhaps it's my film background :)

This next one was taken by Ashley Shaffer. She is a good friend from DeLand, FL who decided to jump in as a 2nd shooter! She did a great job. I took over the editing portion of it, but we all know that editing doesn't make the photographer. It's the PHOTO that makes the photographer. Ashley rocks. Period.

I love Nathanael's face here... this is how EVERY groom should look at their bride!

I love this moment Ashley captured below while I was doing group shots. CLASSIC.

The next few were taken in Nathanel's dad's backyard. The famous Florida Freeze happened about a week or two before the wedding, so the trees weren't green. However, the beautiful dead branches were a breathtaking background. I wouldn't have had it any other way!

Lastly, one of Ashley's! I didn't realize she was shooting me! I loved how it turned out, though :)

Wanda and Nathanael, thank you so much for inviting me to be a special part of your day. I had the best time! Thank you for your trust. I wish you many years of happiness :)

Ashley, thanks for being so flexible. Can't wait to work with you again. XOXO

Now, time to celebrate a day off!
