Mike + Sarah: 25 Years

Ah, college. The place of fresh, exciting adventures and meeting new people. Sometimes in the most unexpected places... like Accounting class at Florida State University. Sarah studied hard for tests and always set high standards for herself. When she got her test back, she had the second best score in the class... but not first. Being extremely competitive, her eyes scanned the classroom and wondered, "Who beat me?". Never to find out, she let it go.

On a random afternoon, she met this guy. Mike. He had a sweet, quiet disposition, which offset Sarah's fiery, spunky side. Whenever he was amused by something she said, light danced in his eyes and a sneaky dimple appeared. Knowing they were in the same Accounting class, Sarah asked Mike what he got on that test. You know, awhile back. When he uttered his test score, it clicked. "It was you! YOU beat me!", she exclaimed. Impressive. This guy was really smart. It intrigued Sarah enough to go out with him a couple times... and a couple more... and then they eventually decided to be together. Forever.

They now have two beautiful girls, Mari and Kate, both in college at FSU (where else?). When I asked Mike and Sarah how they're liking life after the kids left home, their response was overwhelming. "We LOVE it! It's just like college all over again!". Mike and Sarah are celebrating 25 wonderful years together this year, and they are stronger than ever.

Mike and Sarah - thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me be the one to catch this moment in time for you. I wish you many more fun, happy years together.

Spring is always an exciting season -- new things are beginning and coming to life. Flowers start blooming, summer winds start blowing in, and graduates are chomping at the bit to just get school OVER WITH. Although the last few months of Senioritis are no fun, the good things that are required to complete outweigh the bad. Grad Nite at Disney, class rings (jewelry!!!), and last but not least... senior photos. At least, non-cheesy senior photos ;)

Marissa and I met up in downtown Fort Lauderdale intent on taking some fun, fresh, beautiful photos - and we had THE. BEST. TIME. Marissa is a little fashionista by nature, so we dished on the best style blogs out there in between shots. Marissa is smart, witty, and a great chef, apparently. She even wants to go to culinary school in Pompano, FL. I can't wait to sample one of her delicious creations!

I don't love this picture. I luuuuuuurrrrrve it.

Marissa, you're going to rock the culinary world. Oh, and don't forget to call me when you need a taste-tester . ;)

(But no. Really.)

I really do have the best in-laws and family in the whole world. I love each and every one of them. I love every boisterous gathering. Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Fourth of July are my favorite time to get together and just be LOUD.

Tonight, we celebrated Keira's 6th birthday. SIX. Jimmy and I were celebrating our 1.5 year dating anniversary when she was born! She was a little love muffin then and NOW she's a beautiful girlie who has the BIGGEST heart. I even bought her gifts this year from Forever21. True story. WHERE DOES TIME GO?!

I'm so thankful to have beautiful family members to practice on, and also the opportunity to document our family's fun throughout the years. :)

Oh, to have a lifelong best friend at 6 years old.

Keira and Lexi, you blessed my heart today <3 Friendship is a beautiful thing.

Malia & Maddie stepped in, too.

I love these boys so much. Landon and Caden... you have my heart <3

Mahoney Family

The Mahoneys are a sweet, sweet family that I was able to meet recently. They came to our photo session relaxed and game for anything. As we went along downtown Fort Lauderdale, Rachelle and little Caedin started pitching ideas at me. Wonderful, fun ideas that we ran with. I love collaborating and having tons of fun in the short time I spend with a family, and the Mahoneys made it almost too easy.

I had a wonderful time talking with Rachelle through this whole process. She is in the middle of battling her second bout with brain cancer. Although she could feel defeated (and she has the right to be), she is the most positive, radiant woman in the midst everything going on around her. And doesn't she have a sweetest little family?

Caedin loves guns, sour worms, and skittles. He thinks his dad is the coolest. He's also a little comedian and says the funniest things! I loved hanging out with this little dude.

Rachelle, you're beautiful. Your heart is beautiful. Your family is beautiful. I am so thankful we got to meet.

Rachelle is currently trying to raise funds for brain cancer research by doing the "Angels Among Us" 5K family run/walk, powered by Duke Cancer Institute. Will you consider supporting her and help the fight against brain cancer?

Here is the webpage specifically linked to Rachelle and her team :)

Purchase Family

Yes. I'm going to be that girl and show off my in-laws/family on my blog. Jimmy's brother Eddie and his wife, Chelsey, just recently had a little one named Marshall Edward. And I looooooove him. He is such a little character.

I was honored when they asked me to do their family portraits. I love photographing my family and my in-laws, because it allows me to contribute to our family history in a tangible way.

As I continue pursuing this photography journey, I am coming to realize that it is of the upmost importance that people take a break from their normal daily activities once in awhile and get a moment, a time in their family history, frozen in time to enjoy throughout the years.

Marshall is five months old now, and he is expressive, curious, and loves anything that he can enjoy in a tactile way (he loved when the wind blew in his face). Most of all, if any kid has rockstar hair like Marshall does, it needs to be documented for the masses to view. Out of sheer jealousy.

I love this family.

If someone asked me to show them a photo of what a joy motherhood is... I would show them this photo below. Chels, you're a breathtaking mommy. :)

Hope life has been treating you all well lately, like it has me.

Beca C.

I have know Beca a long -- LONG -- time. I probably met her when she was fourteen years old. She had a Nikon D50 wrapped around her hand at all times and created the most beautiful images. At fourteen. How a fourteen year old could posess so much talent, I don't know.

Truth be told, she inspired me to pick up a camera again. I was on a three year hiatus from doing aything photography [can we say burnout?] and couldn't help but try again after I saw her beautifully crafted images. She inspired me to try again, and I love her for that. We have kept in contact through the years, and now I consider a wonderful friend. We meet up every so often and spur each other on to making ourselves, our businesses, better.

At the end of last year, we swapped. I needed some photos updated for my site, and so did she, so we charged downtown Hollywood. If you look at the top of my website, you'll see her take! Do you not LOVE them?

{I had some fun and added a filmy cross-processed feel to the editing of these, aside from my norm.}

Beca. I love you. And I was absolutely honored/flattered you asked me to do this for you.

Tamayo Family

Lots of times families like the posey-posey stuff... but once me and the Tamayo's got to the park and we were getting comfortable, Amy insisted, "We just want to play. That's what we love to do most, and that's what we want to capture in our family pictures."

Bam. No specific picture, just a blank canvas for me. A FUN blank canvas.

Sometimes, we get wrapped up in pictures being absolutely perfect. We try to control our kids, we try to control the flyaways in our hair, we try to control the weather. Control, control, control.

It's better that way.

Will, you have my heart. Thanks for showing me where your ears (ee-ohs), tummy, and hair (hay-ohh) are.

Seniors : Luke

Sometimes, the stars just align and things go right for me...

Wait. I just wrote that on my last blog with Melinda. Allow me to start over:

Sometimes, you just gotta improvise last minute. I know, I know. Not quite the beginning you were looking for, right? Well, on this particular occasion, we had set a location: downtown Pompano Beach. And we were going to gun for that around 4pm. Until my beloved and sweet mother in law (who lives in Pompano) informed me that there was major construction going on and it would be way less than beautiful in the shots.

Um. What?

It was 3:30.

Of course. My life.

Luckily, she gave me some bad news followed by good news... Lauderdale by the Sea is beautiful, Erin! Why don't you try that? The only major drawback is that I had never been there before... and it was over a 20 minute drive. Light was dying slowly. I packed up Luke, his mother Serena, and the rest of the fam and we set out for Lauderdale by the Sea. All this to say...

Sometimes, just sometimes, the stars just align and things go really really right for me. Unexpectedly. And I love that.

Luke is a very accomplished pianist and plans to go to college for it. He needed some photos of him by his instrument to go along with his applications. I tried to get him to rock the "I'm a WAY serious student and I could beat all of your talent into the ground" face. But in all reality, he's a gracious and smiley pianist. And he just couldn't do it - which (of course) turned out better. Some people just know how to work it all by themselves.

While exploring LBTS, me and Luke found this awesome wall. Since he was in formalwear, I asked him if he would like to change. "What?! Let's just try it." I love an adventurous person. And it produced my favorite FAVORITE photo (right).

I got a shot of a few family members as well. Internet, meet Zack (right).

And Mike and Serena (WORK IT, GIRL). And Katie.

Merry Christmas to you. - Love, the Ferraguti's.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!!!! - Love, The Real Ferraguti's.

The above photo rests my case that candid and funny photos are way more fun and memorable. I love this family, and I loved the challenge the location brought. It ended up swinging my way.

*By the way, Ferraguti's... you owe me big time for CHANGING YOUR LIFE. You know, by suggesting the BurgerFi key lime pie concrete shake while you waited for me and Luke. You're welcome ;)

Seniors : Melinda Anne

Sometimes, the stars just align and everything falls into place for me. An adventurous, fun person to photograph, gorgeous sunlight, and lots of laughing in between. The minute I met Melinda and her sweet mother Cindy, I knew that there was something super special about her.

Melinda is a breath of fresh air to the world. She is sweet, optomistic, and loooooves country music. And I mean loooooves. She heads up Yearbook at her school (Westminister Academy) and also has a love for photography that she is currently pursuing. She adores dresses and girly things. And her smile is absolutely radiant... and ridiculously easy to photograph. So naturally, we got along like besties for the whole session.

I was so excited to have Laura from Shine the Light Photography second shoot with me on this session! She is a good friend and gave the final edit a whole new personality with her photos. Thanks for putting up with me, Laura <3

Go on ahead with your bad self, Melinda. Are those boots not the cutest thing of life?

The next few are my faves from Laura. Excited to showcase her beautiful work :)

Melinda, you are a rock star. And I can't wait to see where you end up with your beautiful, optomistic spirit after college! I wish you ALL the luck in the world.

Seniors : Joanna

The other day, I made two ingredient pumpkin muffins. I know, I know. Two ingredients? I must be on crack. Or at least that's what you're thinking. But no - it's true. I stumbled across this easy recipe from Pinterest and made them twice for people - and they were a HIT. I added cream cheese frosting on the top with a sprinkle of nutmeg... and it was absolutely delectable. This kind of recipe makes you feel you're a baking dream (for a not-so-baker like me). Could it possibly be that easy? Yes. Yes, it could.

Some photo shoots I do are just a piece of cake. The lighting is perfect, the weather behaves. Weather is so critical to what I do, and it helps me reflect my style best when it behaves. Sometimes, magic happens.

And on Joanna's shoot, all of the above came true.

Joanna is now studying at Liberty University in Lynchberg, VA, majoring in English and minoring in Women's Ministry. She has two loves of her life - her golden retriever, Buddy, and her handsome boyfriend, Ben. I love her self-deprecating sense of humor and this girl has maturity beyond her years. Not only that, but her fiery red hair matches her spitfire personality :) And let's just state the obvious - she is GORGEOUS.

Loved this shoot, loved this girl. The end.

Newly Born: Jack Orr

People say you forget how little and tiny they are, and I used to never believe them before I had a baby... but it's totally true. Rowan is now three months old. THREE. MONTHS. OLD. Although I'm still a new mom and Rowan really isn't that old, I was surprised to be completely enamored with his little frame and new baby smell because of the time that has passed already.

I was so excited to do little Jack's newborns. He was such a good and content baby :) One thing I really appreciate before a shoot like this is preparedness and organization. Babies have such a short window of time where they're fed, changed, and content that everyone needs to be on their toes. John and Heather had things around their house they knew they wanted to use, and he was happy and fed within minutes of me getting there. This allowed us to maximize our time together and we were able to get some beautiful portraits of this little guy within an hour.

Jack's daddy is a pilot... perhaps he'll be one, too :)

One of my favorites...

We decided to get a quick snapshot of Rowan and her new friend :) Her head is so big compared to his!

(They both look like they're saying "WHAT is going on here?!")

Ah :) I love this little guy and his parents.

I wish you the best, Heather, John, and baby Jack <3

Senior Portraits

It’s that time of year! It’s graduation season and our June calendar is FULL with grad parties and celebrations. I absolutely love celebrating educational accomplishments. Having an education is so important – and such a privilege – that any mile marker should be celebrated. That, and let’s just be honest… I just love to party.

This year, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph some senior portraits for a few beautiful girls I’m honored to know. Not only are they beautiful outwardly, but they have beautiful hearts, too. :)

Andrea LOVES Harry Potter, music, and she is a FIERCE soccer player.  I love her relaxed sense of style.

She’s so adventurous, too! Her sweet mother homeschooled her and they have a great relationship. Her mother was actually in ENGLAND during the Royal Wedding!! What the what?!?! She wasn’t in London, but imagine the electric excitement among the citizens! I probably made an idiot of myself talking about it. Thankfully, she humored me.

Andrea is attending Broward College this fall. Her photoshoot was a breeze and we had SUCH an awesome time. (P.S. - Can you see my in her eye in the last picture? :])

Katie is smart. Like, hyper-smart. Edges on the border of brilliant.

She is graduating high school this year, but she has already been in college for quite awhile at Miami Dade College and will be soon transferring to Florida International University.

Her passion is teaching English to exchange students and she actually has already started tutoring other students to read in the meantime. She is witty and has a stunning smile… what more could you want?! (Sorry to burst your bubble guys, she’s already unofficially taken. By Roberto.)

Tori is seriously one of the funniest people I know. I am so blessed to have her in my life because I know I’m going to live a good, long time if laughter truly is medicine.

She is an accomplished pianist, loves children, and neon pink nail polish.  She also adores her nieces and nephews and treats them all like they are her favorite. :) She has a beautiful heart for missions.

She also shares my guilty pleasure of watching Swamp People and Real Policewomen of Broward County. She graduated high school, and is attending Florida Atlantic University this fall to study Criminal Justice.

Kelsey is one of my favorite people in the world. We have the same music taste and have the same sense of humor. She is one of those people you rarely find in life where you can look at them, think the same thing, and burst out laughing.

She has a beautiful, compassionate heart and has an impeccable sense of style. Not only that, but she is an artist and creates the most innovative things! She is attending Broward College this fall and I’m lucky to know her… and even luckier to have her as a sister. :) (My baby sister. IN COLLEGE. Can I just shed a tear here?!)

All of these young ladies are near and dear to my heart... good luck in college, girls! It was MY HONOR to be able to capture you in your final moments in high school. XOXO

Fiacco Family

Oh, internet. I've been such a slacker lately. I (still) have so many shoots to update on here! In the midst of the holidays and starting school (and being pregnant), there just isn't enough time in the day. I am so fortunate to have captured so many couples and families over the last few months and I am determined to get them up here and show them off! This is my promise to you. If I haven't blogged in a week, someone please drink the haterade and send me a nasty email.

One of the shoots I have been dying to share with you is the Fiacco family. They are one of the most fun-loving, easygoing families I have worked with. It's very clear to see how much they adore each other. Priscilla and Olivia (the girls) are full of personality and we had the best time!

Let me take a quick moment to gush on Priscilla's hair. I WANT IT.

Melissa and Nick are adorable... and Livvy is the shy one :)

Outift change!

Oh, sisterhood.

Seriously, Melissa and Nick? Stop being so stinkin' adorable.

America's Next Top Models are on the loose! Look at Livvy looking fierce. Work it, girl!

What a wonderful, relaxing day this was. The weather was perfect, the park wasn't too crowded, and I got to capture a family who genuinely has a great time together. I love my job. :)

Hope this finds you all well <3

Benny + Sharon

There are people in life who are simply content all the time. Content with what life brings. Content to stay in the same house. Content to live the same way. And really, being content is a good thing. It's a commendable trait. However, being DISCONTENT for all the right reasons is just as remarkable.

Simply (and humbly) put, Benny and Sharon are a team of revolutionaries.  They are discontent in every positive way. Their aspirations, dreams, and passion for their personal education, ministries they are involved in, and city that they serve are so far and above what I could ever dream for myself. Once they complete a goal, they are on to the next thing... at 100 miles an hour. Before they were married, they were individually committed to helping people in whatever way they could. Now that they are a pair, there is NO stopping them. It is quite a remarkable thing to hear them passionately talk about the ways they want to impact their communities for the better. It's inspiring and brilliant, really.

Honestly, I was really honored to be able to spend time with Benny, Sharon and Sharon's mother Sayonara and brother Marcos for Christmas pictures this year. But I am more honored to be able to call them partners in ministry at our church, Crossway Church.

And now.... the goods!!

After awhile, we brought in their little Chihuahua, Rico Suave. And would you believe it? He was in a SANTA SUIT.

Can. Not. Stand. The. Cuteness.

After awhile, I stole Benny and Sharon away for some couple pictures!

Seriously Benny and Sharon, could you be more fabulous and fierce right now?!

Marcos and Sharon love each other so much. :) Marcos always has admiration in his eyes when he looks at his older sister. Rightly so - she's an amazing woman!

Benny and Sharon, you both are rock stars. And I love you both dearly. These photos don't do justice to how special you are to me! This was so fun and I can't wait to see your Christmas cards!!

'Tis the Season!

I had the amazing opportunity to kick off my holiday sessions by hanging out with a FABULOUS family that I know from my church, Crossway Church! Christmas is such an opportune (and terribly convenient)  time of year to stop and freeze time on your kids for awhile by taking yearly professional photos of them. They grow and develop so much during the year and it's fun to look at how much their personalities blossom within a year's time :)

Speaking of personalities, these kids have it by the boatloads! I just adore seeing them every week. I can't wait to look at these pictures in a year and see the difference!

Everybody, meet Rylan. He's the oldest of all three kids and is such a caring and SWEET big brother.

Did I mention that these forest green eyes are going to make the ladies SWOON?!

Finley just overflows with fabulosity. She is a princess, a dancer, a model. She dreams big and has an incredible imagination...

My heart smiles every time she calls out, "MISS EWIN!!"

Work it, girl!

Oh, Beckett. Your big blue eyes and mischievous smile had me from day one.

Say hello to the coolest parents in the world! f you want to train your children on how to smile for photos... take a class from these guys! :) In addition to being wonderful people in general, they are adorable together and compliment each other in every which way.

What a lovely family. Just delightful.

Just because we could, we dressed Beckett up in his Halloween costume. Is this not the cutest little crustacean you've ever seen?! I could just munch on him all day! Oh, those antennae just melt my heart.

I hope the start of the holidays is finding you well. Christmas is in 50something days! I am so excited to see what my other holiday sessions turn out to be like!

I love this family and I love what I do.

Labor Day: Revisited!

Oh, Labor Day. How I look forward to you every year. I get a break from work, school, AND I get paid. And usually I do the opposite of labor - I sleep in and revel in laziness. It's a beautiful thing.

This Labor Day, I woke up super early to make my husband pancakes. This man LOVES breakfast. Probably more than anything in the world. He was surprised and it set a nice, relaxed tone for the day. Honestly, I will admit... I did make an effort to be productive yesterday because I have been so behind with a lot of things. I got a lot done and I was happy. But really, nothing will top last year's Labor Day. And today, I'd like to spend some time remembering it.

Last Labor Day, I met up with a few brilliant girls to do a "no-pressure-no-rules-let's-just-have-fun" photo shoot. We, the photographers, had been consumed with different shoots and just wanted to let loose without feeling the pressure of having to perform. So, we grabbed our beautiful friend Kendra, found a field, and had at it. This is where I learned all about exposure and how to shoot manually. Honestly, I doubt I would have had the time to figure it out properly if I didn't make time to fail at it. Again. And again. And again... until I got it right. :) I learned a lot and I'm grateful for the time with these girls. They're all in college now taking over the world. And I'm proud to say I know them. This day was the day I took some of my personal favorite photos that I've ever taken.

Hello Beca :)

Hello Gus :)

Seriously, Kendra is stinkin' gorgeous.

Kasey being fab, per usual.

Augusta and Beca workin' their magic :)

Finally, the sun came out. Ohh lordy, I love me some light!!!

This was good. Very good.

August has been too busy for my liking. Lots of deadlines and projects and no time left. I blame it partially on myself, as I have the tendency to over-commit, but on the other hand, it keeps life exciting. Sorry for the lack of pictures but unfortunately, my camera has been in the shop since late June. However, I recently got it back! So hopefully things will pick up around here. :)

The big announcement is... I am now booking picture sessions for the holidays! I am starting WAY early this year because last year, I was still getting calls into the second week of December for Christmas pictures. With the late session and the turn around time for processing, this put everyone into a huge time crunch. Not doing that again.

So, here's the DL for this year:

  • Christmas sessions are the same price as a regular session with me ($200) and will probably last an hour to an hour and a half, depending on how things go!
  • Bring Christmas outfits, some props, and a regular change of clothes. You'll walk away with pictures fit for a Christmas card and also some regular individual portraits for the rest of the year. Sort of a two-fer. You'll be glad you did :)
  • P.S. - Who wants to display Christmas pictures on Facebook all year round when you can also have a small variety of pictures that you can whip out for cards, end of year pictures, birthday pictures, etc? Exactly!
  • Please keep in mind: I will only be booking myself up until Thanksgiving weekend! I have a lot of commitments this Fall and space is EXTREMELY limited.

If you want to book a date, email me at:

And just because posts are boring without pictures... I'll throw up some Christmas pictures I had the privilege of taking last year :)

birthdays & butterflies

Birthdays are my favorite days. In fact, I make the week of my birthday "Birthday Week", so I can lengthen the celebration. The only one who really abides by my extended birthday (and really has to) is my husband. He humors me. Oh honey! I don't feel like cooking tonight.... I'm thinking Chinese. Pleeease? It's birthday week, after all!

I love the idea of family getting together, ice cream cake, pizza, lots of birthday attention, and needless to say... PRESENTS! Most of the time when my family gets together, I'm always the one to suggest we finish dinner and get the show on the road so we can get to ripping open those brightly wrapped boxes. My family actually makes fun of me for it. Honestly, we all know I'm SAYING what everyone is THINKING. Right guys? ... Right? Is this thing on?

Anyways, I was able to shoot a birthday "Anytime" session for a very special girl named Jordan. She turned 7 on June 30th and she is a girl who loves butterflies. In fact, we did her birthday session at Butterfly World in Pompano!

Before I get into this, I would really love to commend Jordan's mom, Michele. I suggested that she bring any items that shouts "Jordan" and exudes her personality. She did SUCH a wonderful job coordinating outfits and cute little details. Thanks, Michele! The beautiful wings were so appropriate for our location :)

She fits right in :)

After a quick outfit change into something more casual... we went butterfly hunting! Michele was a great help. I even got to hold on on my finger! Soooo cool.

Look what Jordan has! (I can't believe I actually got the focus to be so nice on the butterfly's body). I. love. this. picture. Jordan was SO EXCITED to hold a butterfly. Admittedly, I was, too!

Probably my favorite. Her pose seems so timeless to me!

This girl would not put her butterfly guide down. Her favorite butterfly is the Purple King.

This is Jordan's younger brother, Jackson. He was having a great time, too!

Thank you for helping me remember what it's like to be struck with wonder over beautiful creatures. You are going to have a fabulous year and I hope you don't forget the feelings you had over the butterflies you love so much. Here's to you!

Lauren soon-to-be Collman!

This morning, I trekked up to Delray Beach to celebrate (and photograph) my lovely friend Lauren Basye's bridal shower. If you're familier with my flickr , this is the same Lauren and Ryan that I photographed here:

I love bridal showers. Everything is new and exciting about starting your first home. I was sharing with someone later in the day how I never ever really took the time to research the things I registered for when I was getting married because I barely cooked and knew my way around a kitchen. I never put together what was necessary. Looking back, I would have registered totally different! I probably would have put more cute, personalized things. Better quality, too. My bad.

Fortunately, Lauren has lived on her own up in a UCF dorm for a couple years and was ready for some quality home goods. She was showered with love, gifts, and advice all morning long. I've also never heard the words, "This is awesome!" as much as I have heard it today. :) I'm looking forward to Ryan and Lo's wedding 4th of July weekend!

First off the dessert table was scrumptious. And the tea was a perfect nod to what Lauren loves.

Did I mention that this house had incredible natural light pouring through the windows?

Lauren was asked to share some funny stories about their relationship... and then her mother took a turn and spoke highly of Ryan and Lauren's relationship and why they were meant to be together. She spoke so eloquently!

Gift time! The perfect glass container for Lauren's "perfect sweet tea", according to Ryan.

Lauren with her "Mothers" :)

(for some reason, squarespace won't let me delete this question mark. lame.)

Here are Lauren and her friends from Calvary!

OK. I only put this picture up here to prove a point: Photographers may take good photographs, but that doesn't mean they photograph well themselves. WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING??

Can I just tell you.... these sisters are ultra fabulous. I love each and every one of their outfits. Plus, they're all stinkin' GORGEOUS.

Lauren and her mom! I think this is adorable.

I just love this girl. Lauren, you're going to rock as a wife. You're so much more ahead of me than I was at this stage in life. We better use some of those ultra sweet chinese dishes next time I come over.

Love and best wishes,

baby love: Dunia + Max

It's baby season! Lots and lots of my friends are with child and it's such fun to always be talking in a circle of girls where the center of the circle is filled with baby bumps. It's such a blessing. Many people have told me how they would never ever bring a child into this crazy, broken, messed-up world. I can understand where they're coming from. Really I do. Parenting is hard. Nine months is a long time. Eighteen YEARS is a long time. And really, who wants to go without caffeine for that long?

Luckily for me, I know some rockstar women out there ready to take on the challenge. Mothering is tough. Raising a fine, upstanding citizen is a long journey and sometimes doesn't look appealing, but its rewards are great. I am fortunate to know these women because it makes me believe I can do it too, someday.

Dunia and Hayythem (we call him Max for short) found me through a friend. I was honored to be able to get to know them by strolling the exotic flowers at the Morikami Japanese Gardens in Boca Raton. Dunia is a GORGEOUS, strong, Arabian woman who is just the cutest thing. Little Aya (their little girl) is fortunate to have parents who are already so in love with her!

They have so much fun together :)

One thing I learned from Dunia - don't buy maternity clothes. Would you believe that she just buys regular clothes and modifies them? I'm so stealing that idea!

Dunia = GORGEOUS here. Per usual. :)

We stayed at the museum 'til we were kicked out! Dunia & Max were such good sports. I'm so excited for Aya - their newest little addition!
